Thun para Jesus

Outreach Datas: 6th – 17th of July

Thun stands at a remarkable crossroads—where the River Aare flows out of Lake Thun and the Swiss Plateau opens toward the Alps. Known for its historic Old Town, its castle overlooking the city, and its role as a gateway to the Bernese Oberland, Thun carries both beauty and influence. We believe this city has a God-given calling to be a place of spiritual depth and regional impact—a bridge between generations, cultures, and regions, where faith is not only remembered but actively lived, shaping the heart of Switzerland and the Alpine world beyond.

Thun is home to families rooted in Swiss tradition, young professionals, students, military personnel, and an increasingly international community drawn by stability, opportunity, and quality of life. Beneath the calm and order lies a deep spiritual hunger, especially among younger generations searching for meaning beyond material security. At the same time, Thun is a spiritual “hothouse” where the flame is being kept alive. In the Prayer House in Thun, people gather on their knees—wrestling, interceding, praying God’s Word, their Bibles moistened with tears. Every month, 500–700 young people come together for Friday nights of praise and worship through Bless Thun, alongside vibrant local churches and many faithful intercessors crying out for revival.

Now is the moment appointed by God. We believe that as we unite in intercession and evangelism, the Lord Himself will fulfill His promise to send revival to Thun during the Million Month. This is not a season of striving, but of trusting—trusting the God who has already prepared the harvest. We declare that this is the year of the harvest, where, as the prophet Amos proclaimed, “the plowman will overtake the reaper” (Amos 9:13). As we pray, go, and proclaim together, we trust the Holy Spirit to move with power— awakening hearts, drawing the lost home, and filling the streets of Thun with the light of Christ. We step forward in faith, confident that God will do what only He can do, and that this city will see a fresh outpouring of His life and glory.

Como chegar lá

The best airport to fly into is Zurich Airport (ZRH)—this is usually the cheapest and fastest option with the most international connections. From Zurich Airport, Thun is very easy to reach: by train it takes about 2 hours (with one simple change in Bern), and by car about 1 hour 45 minutes, depending on traffic. When taking the train, look for “Zürich Flughafen” (the station inside the airport) and travel via “Bern” to “Thun” (the main station in the city center). Trains run frequently and are punctual.

An alternative airport is Geneva Airport (GVA); from there, the train journey to Thun takes about 2 hours 15 minutes via Bern.

Deslocação na cidade

Thun is served mainly by buses, which are reliable and cover the entire city and surrounding areas. Most visitors will find a day pass the most convenient option if traveling more than once in a day. Tickets can be purchased at ticket machines, or digitally via the SBB Mobile app (https://www.sbb.ch/en/app.html). A single city ticket typically costs around CHF 3–4, while a day pass is around CHF 8–10

Local Tips

Thun’s city center is very walkable—the Old Town, Aare river walks, shops, cafés, and many churches are all within short walking distance of Thun Bahnhof. Taxis are available at the station and via phone, though most locals rely on public transport or walking. Uber availability is limited, but e-bikes and bicycles can be rented seasonally, especially near the station and lake area. If the weather is good, walking or cycling along the Aare is often the most enjoyable way to experience the city.
